About Us

Balnabroich specialises in breeding pedigree Highland and Shorthorn cattle in the glen of Strathardle, near Blairgowrie, Perthshire, Scotland. Wintering is spread between Balnabroich Hill and the low ground.

Balancing the cattle enterprise, Balnabroich also runs a flock of 600 Blackface on the hill and 600 Cheviot Mule ewes on the low ground.

Our Breeding Teams

A Team

The A Team comprises of 14 cows and heifers which are put to the bull at age three.

B Team

A second herd of 12 Highland cows, the B Team, run with a Beef Shorthorn bull. Selected Highland Shorthorn cross heifer calves are retained for the C team.

C Team

Selected cross heifer calves from the B Team are retained for joining to an Aberdeen Angus bull in their second year. These first cross cows form the basis of the C Team and number 100 cows.

D Team

A herd of 24 pedigree Beef Shorthorn cows. Our stock bull is Millerston Man o War.
